Jazz Practice No. 01: Leaving Air

Today’s exercise was not about adding vocabulary. It was about resisting the impulse to fill every open measure.

I played one phrase, let the room answer, and waited until the next entrance felt necessary. The difficult part was trusting that the silence still belonged to the music.

For the next session: keep the tempo slow, record one uninterrupted take, and listen back only for the shape of the spaces.
